All of Desert Stone People's Basalt stones are hand harvested either from seashore or dry riverbeds. We then mechanically tumble the stones for a period of time with sand and water to give the stones a 'patina' or smoother finish than available, on a large scale, in its natural state. This additionally provides a safety factor for massaging with the stones for it is basalt's nature to be somewhat pitted and rough.

Next, each and every stone is paired up with a twin. This provides for a balanced feel to the therapist holding the stones; provides the client with consistent temperatures (when the 'twins' are used at once during the massage).

All Desert Stone People stone sets will have a variety of sizes, shapes and colors and none are uniform as they are created in Nature, not cut by man.
