About Us

My name is John Wertheim. I am the owner and Founder of Desert Stone People of Tucson, Arizona.  I opened the doors of the business in January of 2000 with the goal of providing massage therapists, students and other professionals with the best possible product for use with their clients.

I specialize in Basalt stones for hot stone therapy as well as marble for cold therapy. The stones I sell are hand-selected from the beach, brought to my shop and put through a rigorous routine of smoothing and sorting so that each set that goes to my customers is the highest quality they can get. The marble pieces are harvested in the USA, cut by hand in Colorado and are also superb quality. I strive to find the perfect balance of the highest quality product for the most competitive price.

Desert Stone People is a small, family-owned business. I do all the work at the shop myself. This allows me to keep prices low and guarantee top quality for my customers. I ask my clients to keep this in mind when placing an order. I will take the necessary time to find them the perfect product for them. Sometimes that takes a day or two to accomplish. Rest assured, when the product arrives, it will be a custom set, chosen with the individual in mind. My hard work has earned me an excellent reputation within the massage industry. In fact, I have done business with many of the top names in the resort spa and massage instructional institutions around the world, many of whom are repeat customers.
